On October 16th, 2009 we took a trip downtown to visit the Arizona Capitol Museum. It was really cool. Adjacent to the building complex is the Wesley Bolin Memorial plaza which is home to many, many memorials, including the USS Arizona anchor and mast. Is this a sad question, but how many people who live here actually know that the USS Arizona anchor is right here?
It was getting a bit too warm to walk around the whole park, but we will definitely return in cooler weather. Outdoor sculptures and memorials are downright cool, in our opinion. Even if some are controversial.
The museum itself was very kid friendly (and free). There were plenty of little exhibit rooms, though it turned out the big hit was getting to climb up the stairs and look down from under the great copper dome. Here's Jakob & Anna playing "Bash a Bill" as they "learn" how laws are made, and Emma sitting in the House Gallery.

It looks like you had a really happy day. Does Anna have freckles or is it a reflection of the polka dots! All three of them have grown so much! I am looking forward to seeing you all soon, and I am game to see any number of memorials, monuments and anchors!
