Not bad considering there were no rehearsals (could you tell?!!)
Then we did it 2 more times so that the 2 angels (Anna & Kailin) could have a turn being Mary.
Love it!

Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner
Since we don't really have any family Thanksgiving traditions yet, THIS was the year to start!!
Today with Omi's help, we made this rather adorable tabletop turkey. Anna and Jakob made all the feathers and then I put it together, thanks to FamilyFun. It was a fun little project, and the girls then enjoyed collecting the "harvest" to fill it up.
Then we treated ourselves to a wonderful Turkey dinner which you can see I slaved over for hours!!
I think we will have pancake turkeys for dinner EVERY Thanksgiving Monday from now on!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
This has got to be one of the easiest Halloween's ever.
If you don't believe me, check out our posts about Halloween LAST year here, here, and here ! The mere fact there are 3 posts about it proves how complicated it was!!!!
This year Anna was a pink fairy, and never wavered in that choice. Jakob hadn't decided what he wanted to be yet, but as soon as he tried on the Jedi costume we picked up for him there was no question. The only glitch was that Emma didn't want to go near ANY costume, but if you saw this earlier post, then you'll know how that problem was resolved.
Even the sudden weather change didn't make things difficult. We had a church outdoor Trunk or Treat party to go to on the Wednesday before Halloween and the temperatures had dropped like 20 degrees. I had no qualms about the kids wearing warm clothes under their costumes. Even though Anna had long grey thermal sleeves poking out of her fairy outfit, she was actually loving it because (a) she wasn't cold, and more importantly (b) she was protected from any HINT of scratchiness! I mean, isn't that what happens in the rest of the country? We sure are spoiled in Arizona. I was glad I didn't have to figure out how to fit a snowsuit underneath though!!
By Saturday, the temps had warmed up again and so on Halloween night it was no longer an issue anyway.
Btw, Jedis don't like their Mom's doing their hair and fairies still like to wear a shirt under their dress even when it is warm enough without.

We met up with cousins at Grandma's house (which is just around the corner from us). Karsyn (2yr old witch) hugging Emma, and Kyla (3yr old dinosaur). How many cousins can fit on Grandma's step? Looks like 6 - Anna, Emma, Maelie (5yr old ladybug), Jaxon (1yr old Penguin), Kailin (4yr old ballerina) & Kyla.

We didn't take many Trick or Treating pictures because they never turn out very good, but couldn't resist this huge house in the neighborhood, all decked out. Those are my kind of decorations - not creepy or gory, yet still Halloweeny.

The Great Pumpkin Festival
On Saturday October 24th, 2009 we all went to the Desert Botanical Gardens for The Great Pumpkin Festival. Since we are members, it was totally free and there was tonnes of cool stuff going on for the kids. They played carnival games, won candy, went on a tractor-pulled hayride, played in The Amazing Hay Bale Maze, picked out a pumpkin, decorated their pumpkin, visited a petting zoo and then took a final Hayride home. Phew! It was totally awesome.

Halloween Dress Up Fun
On Tuesday October 20th, 2009 the boys were offered some last minute tickets to a Suns preseason basketball game and ditched us girls for the evening. Yes, it was a school night, but Jakob is a good kid (his teacher told us this week) and he had 2 half days anyway because of Parent Teacher conferences. So off they went.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, the girls spontaneously decided they were going to try on practically every costume we have! I was really pleased because thus far Emma was resisting all attempts at trying anything on for Halloween.
Here is the cast of characters , in order of appearance:
Emma the unicorn and Anna the monkey.
Petting the unicorn.
Anna the Pooh Bear and Emma the unicorn, checking themsleves out in the mirror, and checking out that big stuffed tummy!
Anna the Pharaoh (this is the most coveted costume we have, and Anna can't wait until she is tall enough to wear it for real! As Cleopatra, I guess) and Emma the monkey.
