So, we went camping this summer.
We had a trip planned with Jarod's brother Jason, so we thought we'd better have a trial run to see how the kids did and see how adequate our camping gear was. The last real camping we did was at the Grand Canyon North Rim, when I was pregnant with Anna. We've camped in the back yard since then, but Anna was still a baby and ended up sleeping in the house. So this was a first for both the girls.
Emma enjoyed checking out the equipment. Can you believe that we took her camping in a skirt???? In our defense, it was pretty hot still, but really! What were we thinking? Naturally she came home with scraped up knees and elbows.
The girls soon found ways to entertain each other, while Jakob read his latest Boxcar children book.
In the end, Emma slept in the car with Jarod, so I don't know if we can technically call that camping. It worked out good for her because she didn't wake up at the crack of dawn like the rest of us.
This is Anna modeling the "I camped last night" look.

Then off to the woods to collect firewood. Not that it was cold, but isn't a campfire the whole point of camping?
The kids got along together GREAT. Jakob even escorted Anna to the bathrooms, unasked, about 6 times that morning (she was chugging down Capri Suns like no tomorrow).
I love it when the kids get along. Ah, so maybe that's the whole point of camping...
